Electronic signature is the broadest category — it falls under the ESIGN Act (2000, USA) and the EU eIDAS Regulation. The biometric signature used in Flexi-Dent (finger or stylus on a tablet) belongs to this category. Digital signature is a narrower category, with PKI authentication, in its qualified form.
The electronic signature used in Flexi-Dent — specifically, the biometric signature — has a legal effect fully equivalent to traditional paper-based signatures.
